The firm co-managed by Miss Argyrou and Mr. Konstantinou consists of a number of UK and Cyprus qualified lawyers, legal advisors and administrative personnel. The Corporate Department is managed by Mrs. Rodoula Konstantinou a UK-qualified Chartered Accountant who gained several years of experience working with large multinationals and the public sector for KPMG. THE MANAGEMENT TEAM
Chrisavgi Argyrou PARTNERMs. Argyrou founded the firm back in 1990. Since then, she has been involved in a number of landmark cases, which set a precedent in the Cypriot legal system. A few notable examples include the first case in Cyprus where an IT service provider was ordered to pay damages for loss of electronic data, invoking the rule of evidence known by the Latin maxim Res Ipsa Loquitur (“the event speaks for itself”). Moreover, in the field of Family Law, she has won several important cases which have been used as precedents in the fields of maintenance, property settlement, family court’s jurisdiction, contempt, custody, and others. Further to the above, in the field of Labour Law she has tried hundreds of cases and has created case law on distinct technical matters. She defended, with Mr. Konstantinou, contempt proceedings for non-disclosure of assets in a $25 million claim against foreign clients. Apart from the above, Ms. Argyrou is involved in a number of organizations of charitable nature and frequently offers pro-bono services to individuals, associations, organizations, and unions. Ms. Argyrou has received her Bachelor Degree in 1981 from the School of Law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She has been an energetic participant in various Organisations and Committees. Since 1989 she has been an active member of the Cyprus Bar Association and has served at the Judicial Committee of the confederation of local federations of Cyprus since 1992. Starting from 2000 she is the Head of the Professional Team of lawyers of the Centre of Education about Drugs & Treatment of Drug Addicted Persons (ΚΕΝΘΕΑ) and since 1995 she has been an associate at the Association for the Psychological Health of Youth and Teens. Lastly, Ms. Argyrou since 2012 is a member of the Cyprus Radiotelevision Authority. Her primary focus are on various areas of Law, in particular Family Law, Banking, Intellectual Property, and Labour Law. Mrs. Argyrou has also tried cases pertaining to the areas of Litigation, as well as Personal Injuries and Wills & Probates.
Christos Konstantinou PARTNERChristos has been with the firm for 8 years. During this period he has been involved in a number of notable cases for domestic and foreign clients. In the process of interim proceedings he has obtained worldwide freezing orders for hundreds of millions (RUR, USD), obtained disclosure orders, appointed interim receivers, and, recently, annulled worldwide freezing order coupled with a disclosure orders issued against client of his firm. In the process of corporate fraud and other commercial cases, Christos has cooperated with lawyers from the USA, Russia, Germany, United Kingdom, Moldova, Romania, Hong Kong, Japan, Netherlands, Greece, France, and Switzerland and has coordinated litigation and extrajudicial action. He has also appeared in international Courts in the EU and out of the EU, such as the Moscow Arbitrazh Court and Tribunal de Commerce or Commercial Court. His recent cases include Disclosure & contempt proceedings in a $25.000.000 international banking claim for the Defendants/Respondents. He has also tried for the Defendants/Respondents a fraud claim including freezing of assets and disclosure of assets worth €200.000.000. Christos has also appeared in trial for the Claimants/Applicants in a breach of Contract claim coupled with a freezing and disclosure order in a claim worth €50.000.000 and another claim for breach of Contract worth €49.000.000 for Defendants/Respondents. Christos has also advised international banking institutions on issues of Corporate Law and Bankruptcy and has represented shareholders in publicly traded companies (London Stock Exchange) seeking disclosure orders. Apart from Commercial litigation, he has tried cases in the areas of Criminal law, civil wrongs, Family law, construction, and others. Christos has received his degree (L.L.B. (Hons)) from the University of Lancaster in 2006 while in 2007 he earned his Diploma in Professional and Legal Skills and his Barrister-at Law (Gray’s Inn) from the Inns of Court School of Law. In 2012 Christos earned both his Master in Business Administration by the Cyprus International Institute of Management, and his Master of Laws in Professional and Legal Skills from the City University London. He is concurrently an active Member in various Associations; since 2007 he is enlisted as a member at the Bar of England and Wales. Since 2008 he is a member of the Cyprus Bar Association and the Famagusta Bar Association, whereas since 2012 he has been a member at the International Bar Association. Christos is also participating at the Corporate and M&A Law Committee and is an active member of the Pro Bono and Access to Justice Law Committee. Christos has been awarded with the Sweet & Maxwell Company Law Prize in 2006. He has also published two papers, “Part 36: Success or Failure?” (2012) and “Pre-Action Protocols 14 Years On: Have they been proven to be conducive to settlement?” (2012), both available at SSRN. He mainly focuses on Cross-border Litigation, Domestic Litigation, Corporate & Commercial Law, and Criminal Law. He has also tried cases that pertain to the areas of Personal Injuries, Intellectual Property, Banking, and Family Law.
